What is B.U.D?
The Beautification and Urban Design (B.U.D.) Commission is a group of local citizens who wish to enhance the beauty of the Town of Rocky Mount. As dedicated volunteers, they work towards that goal by establishing beautiful gardens, large and small, on the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT’s) rights-of-way throughout the town.
A committee, appointed by the town and advised by Harvey Design Land Architects, Inc. (HDLA), researched the idea of creating a corridor garden program in 2005 following the establishment of the concept by the Virginia General Assembly and funding approved by the Rocky Mount Town Council. B.U.D. members work together in conjunction with the town council and VDOT to provide professionally designed, installed and maintained gardens.
For more information, please call the Town of Rocky Mount at 540-483-0907 and a B.U.D. representative will return your call.
